CARRY-ON LUGGAGE ESSENTIALS
PSA: This post applies primarily to longer flights (3+ hours)
Personally, what I pack in my carry on luggage is just as important as what I'm packing in my checked luggage. When I travel, I have two (2) main goals: to be comfortable and to not be a bother to the flight attendants.
So, let's just jump right in.
Cashmere Joggers
As I stated before, comfort is very important to me. So, I tend to wear very comfortable clothes on the airplane. My go to outfit (year round) is a cashmere jogger set. The cashmere is light enough, that my body temperature remains steady. I'm not hot in the airport and I'm not freezing on the airplane. Naked Cashmere is a brand that makes the joggers. I prefer the joggers in black because it doesn't show stains and black is always very forgiving (in case of bloating).
Compression Socks
The next item that I recommend packing is a pair of compression socks. These are very important to on longer flights (over three hours). I recommend wearing these when traveling internationally and on longer flights.
Cashmere Trouser Socks
In the summer time, I recommend packing a pair of cashmere travel socks, because if you're wearing sandals your feet may get cold.
Camisole
Next, I recommend packing a camisole that you can put on, in case you're cold. I recommend the ultra light camisole by Hanro. This is the best camisole, I’ve ever worn. It’s made of the softest cotton that I ever touched. It’s great to have on hand in case you get a chill and need another layer of clothing next to your skin.
AirPods Pro/Bluetooth Adapter
In my opinion. AirPods Pro, are the best ear buds on the market, because they serve a dual purpose when traveling. They provide both noise cancellation and headphone capabilities.
Flip Flops
If you desire not to have to keep putting your shoes on for each bathroom visit, I suggest packing a pair of flip flops (bring a shoe bag) for a less bothersome task. If you drink a ton a water when traveling, you'll definitely be making multiple trips to the lavatory.
Water Bottle
I prefer traveling with my own water bottle. I love the Yeti Rambler for its size and because it’s stainless steel. It holds 18 ounces of water and keeps the water at a cool temperature, and I just refill my bottle throughout the flight. Make sure that your water bottle is empty before you enter security, because liquids still are not allowed in your carry-on luggage.
Travel First Aid Kit/Personal Essentials
I also like to be prepared by having my own first aid items, vitamin and skin care items. The kits that I prefer include bandages, wipes, anti bacterial ointment, and gauze. I also pack a small bottle of Tylenol, in case of a headache or body aches.
Emergency Contact Information
Please be sure to have emergency contact information somewhere in your carry-on bag. I suggest putting this information on an index card and laminate the card. If you were to become incapacitated, at least your information would be readily available.
Underwear
Always, always have extra underwear. I typically have a few days worth, because I’ve had my luggage mishandled a few times. It made a huge difference to me that I didn’t have to go out and purchase new undies.
Fragrance
There are two reasons I carry a travel size fragrance in my carry-on. First of all, I had too many bottled confiscated at security, and they were never returned. Secondly, after traveling on a long flight, it’s refreshing to apply a nice scent before arriving at your destination.
I hope my suggestions will help you better prepare for your next adventure, and take some of the stress out of traveling.
Be safe and happy travels!!!
P.S. My vitamin/medicine recommendations are my own. Please check with your personal physician before taking and medication(s).
