ROSEWOOD MAYAKOBA, LUXURY AT ITS FINEST
I'd traveled to Cancun, Mexico several times, yet I'd never visited Playa del Carmen. Well, my first visit was to Rosewood Mayakoba, and I must say from the moment I arrived at the resort, it spoiled me for any other place I would ever travel.
I've never in my life experienced the level of customer service and graciousness exuded by a staff, than at Rosewood Mayakoba. Other hotels and resorts, should send their managers here to be trained, so they can train their staff. That's how exceptional it was!
After checking in, I was taken to my suite via electric boat.
With the exception of the Private Residences, all of the resorts 129 rooms are suites (including 8 Wellness Suites and 2 Presidential Suites). The boat ride was beautiful, and being surrounded by the jungle and lagoon presented such tranquility. I felt as one with nature. The driver also pointed out that there were many cenotes on the property for diving. A cenote is a natural pit or sinkhole that’s formed by the collapse of limestone bedrock. The water is mostly a jade green color.
Each suite has it's own personal boat dock, and that's where I was dropped off. Upon arrival in my suite, my bags were already there, as well as the room attendant. There was a welcome basket of fruit, bottled water and local tequila.
I stayed in a Lagoon Studio Suite, and it was absolutely beautiful. The sliding glass door, opened to my own personal heated plunge pool and chairs for lounging. There was also a roof top deck with another sitting area and an outdoor shower. The room had two queen beds, a sofa, a small table and chairs. The bathroom was so spacious! There was a tub that seemed large enough for at least four persons, a beautiful shower encased in glass, comfy robes and slippers, and a huge vanity. The room was just meticulous and so tastefully decorated. Before the room attendant left, she asked if I'd like turndown service in the evening and a drawn bath, and I replied, "Absolutely." I was super excited to see what the turndown service included.
After, the attendant left, I just decided to change into my swim suit and relax by the plunge pool. It was so nice, to just do nothing and wave at other guests and they passed by on the boats.
Since the restaurants at Rosewood Mayakoba suggested resort casual wear, I only packed swimsuits, nice summer dresses and sandals for this trip. This attire fit the bill for my entire stay.
After lounging by the pool all afternoon, I decided to change and go to dinner. I decided to dine at Casa Del Lago and the food was fabulous. I had the Salmon and it was cooked to perfection.
After dinner, I walked around the resort for while and ended up sitting near the beach for while.
When I returned to my room, I had the most wonderful surprise. The bed had been turned down and my slippers placed near the bed, and my attendant asked if I was ready for my bath to be drawn? She drew the bath and then put rose petals in the water, and this just made my day. I had NEVER been to any hotel or resort, that paid attention to detail like Rosewood Mayakoba. They sat the bar for every other place that I'd visit. So, needless to say, I had an amazing bath and a even more amazing night's sleep.
The next morning, I got up early an went to the Sense Spa. Although, I didn't book a treatment during my stay, I did enjoy the Spa Serenity Pool and the wonderful hammocks.
On my next visit, I'll book a treatment. I'm really interested in the Cenote Temazcal Purification. This treatment involves a sensory garden, steam bath detox & scrub and massage.
After the visiting the Spa, I had a yummy breakfast at Casa Del Lago. I dined on an omelette, fresh fruit, coffee and the most delicious green juice that I've had. It's made out of plant that is similar to spinach, but is indigenous to Mexico. It was so delicious, that I asked for the recipe. I literally sat and people watched in the restaurant for nearly two hours, and I thoroughly enjoy every minute of it. Since the Punta Bonita pool was the near the beach, I headed in that direction.
Another thing that I so love about this resort is the attendants refilling your ice water poolside every half hour. There really is no need for you to move from whatever spot you've planted yourself. After a few hours, I retired back to my suite to enjoy some more quality time in the plunge pool. I can't stop saying how SUPER this place is, and everything is "5 Star Service."
I dined at Agave Azul for dinner and had the most delicious sushi. There is also a master tequlier who will help you navigate the more than 100 labels of premium tequilas and even concoct the perfect tequila-based cocktails to complement your meal. I tasted some fabulous tequilas, and my favorite was Don Julio.
After such a nice evening of drinking and dining, I was definitely ready for bed.
My days in paradise were winding down, so I really decided to chill out my last day. I had breakfast again at Casa de Lago (thoroughly enjoyed it), and then went back to my suite and lounged by the plunge pool, read my book and listened to music.
I would like to mention that although I didn't leave the resort, there is luxury shopping center approximately 40 minutes away in Cancún , called Cancún Luxury Avenue Boutique Mall. The mall houses Louis Vuitton, Carolina Herrera, Ferragamo, Burberry, Max Mara and many other local luxury designers. The concierge at Rosewood Mayakoba will also arrange for an array of activities, including yet not limited to, snorkeling, visiting the Mayan Ruins, diving, and cenotes.
Also, since my visit to Rosewood Mayakoba, the resort underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in November 2019. There are now eight New Wellness Suites.
The Adults Only Club Aqui Me Quedo is located on the beach and is an open air dining an living area (12:00- 6:00 PM)
Al Fresco - Dining at Aqui Me Quedo each evening (6:30-11:00 PM)
The resort has also added new restaurants, two Presidential Suites and Private Residences.
La Ceiba Kitchen & Garden- (Wed & Sat 7:00-10:00 PM) Must make reservations - Communal Table Seating
La Fondita - Reminiscent of a charming chic cantina (12:00-6:00 PM) In El Pueblito Village
Pan Dulce - Bakery (9:00 AM-6:00 PM) In El Pueblito Village
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rosewood Mayakoba, and I longingly look forward to the day that I can visit again. There are some places on this earth that just touch your soul, and this is one of those places.
In closing, I'd like to briefly discuss how I plan for my trips. I have a list of places that I desire to visit in my lifetime, and each year, I decide where I'm going to travel and the length of my stay, and I budget for my trips. I have a separate savings account that is allocated specifically for traveling and I save a certain amount of money monthly. I choose to plan this way, because traveling is important to my mental health. This concept will work for any trip, no matter the cost.
I encourage whoever reads this blog, to not take life for granted. Please use the time that God has given each of us to enjoy life and all that it has to offer. Much love to you .
