Sandals, Sandals, Sandals: A Summer Essential

I LIVE in sandals, and they are a wardrobe staple for many women, especially in the warmer months. 

Sandals come in so many forms: flats, flip flops, stilettos, wedges, espadrilles, etc. So, as women, we have a ton of choices. A sandal is such an easy way to complete and outfit!  For example, you can throw on a pair of jeans, a tank top, a pair of flip flops, add a cute belt and a fly handbag and you’re all set to go.  The same thing can be done with a dress or skirt.  The right pair of sandals can really accentuate your outfit and take it to another level.  

I'm a sandal fanatic and when I do purchase, I tend to spend more on them, because I wear my sandals for years and years. In fact, I have a few sandals that I've had for at least fifteen (15) years, and at the end of each summer (depending on how much I've worn them), I take them to the cobbler and have them replace/repair the heel/sole (or both).  I'm then ready for another season. I want to make one thing clear, I buy the majority of my sandals on sale. I literally put them in my shopping cart, and I watch them until they are marked down. Now, sometimes things do sell out, and once they're gone that's it. There will be times when you just need to make the purchase while they are available. I have a few pair of sandals that are still haunting me, I wish I had of bought when I first saw them (LOL).  

I prefer purchasing classic pieces (shoes and clothing), because they never go out of style.  Another tip that I'd like to offer is, when you're buying sandals (especially flats), try to always purchase those that have a leather insole and outer sole. The sandal will last longer and your feet don't tend to hurt.

Flip flops are such a fun and easy piece to add to your vacation wardrobe. They can be worn to the beach, while traveling on the airplane, while dining and pretty much anything else you can think of. I really enjoy traveling in them, because it makes going through security so much easier. You just take them off and put them in the bin and you’re set. Just remember to pack a pair of socks in your carry-on luggage in case your feet get cold. They are also great to wear to the pool and/or beach. It’s always wise to take a nice pair of heels when on vacation, in case you want a dressier look for dinner or you just may want a more sophisticated look during the day. I wouldn’t suggest taking long tours or long walks in heels, yet they can definitely amp up your vacation wardrobe. Espadrilles are the perfect vacation shoe, because they can be worn for the entire vacation. They can go from airport security, to the airplane, to the beach, lunch/dinner and anywhere else the vacation takes you. They’re really versatile, because they range in color, height and style. They look amazing with dresses, jeans, skirts and shorts. Even the higher heels are comfortable enough to can be worn for the majority of the day. All of the sandals and espadrilles that I mentioned above run true to size, and all of the heels are truly comfortable. I spent way too many years sacrificing my comfort, in order to be stylish. So, my sole goal (no pun intended) now is be comfortable and stylish.
